We decided to look at institutions as we found that this might help us to choose the right one for our film. We looked at three big different companies and chose what would be best to suit the audience and genre of our film. We decided on Paramount Pictures as it has distributed many romantic films so it would suit our film.
Paramount Pictures
Paramount Pictures, owned by Viacom it is the oldest existing film company. This is good as we would like to use a company that is well known and is good. It was founded in 1912 and in 2006 they became a parent company of Dreamwork. They have distributed many romantic films like, Titanic, Pretty in Pink, What Women want and Falling in love.
Warner Bros.
Warner Brothers is a subsidisary of Time Warner and has several subsidisary companies itself. It was founded in 1918 as Time Warner but as the years progressed there were other branches launched under the same belt and one of these was Warner Bros Picture.
They deal with dramas mainly so perhaps it wouldnt be the greatest company for our genre of film. It is a very well known company but as we want it to seem like ours is a romantic comedy perhaps its not the best for it.
Sony Pictures
Sony Pictures Entertainment is the television and film production, distribution unit of Japanese company Sony. Its group sales in 2010 has been reported to be of $7.2 billion. They overtook Columbia Pictures in 1989 and made it into Sony Pictures. They are obviously a very wealthy company and are therefore well known. These could be good as they are well known and would know what they are doing but they genre wouldn't be right for our film.
