Movie Poster Research- Layout of Poster

Most movie posters cover the same type of layout and structure. Some of the typical conventions they follow are:

- Titles are typically at the bottom of the poster
- With dates at the bottom
- If actors names are on the poster they are at the top
- A bold tagline would be at the top but not always

Most posters follow this as it is pleasing to the eye and the audience can recognise it easily.

Colours are specific to genre, like rom-coms are generally bright bold colours and action movies can be dark and mysterious. Fonts are also specific to genres and also to the plot of the movie. It's important for the colours and font to do this as it reflects the movie and gives an idea to the audience what it's going to be like.
